Helping Save Lake Erie with Mike Ferner
February 23 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
The 2014 Toledo Water Crisis brought home the fact that Lake Erie needed some advocates to try and shut down the source of the algal blooms that are a danger to humans and other plants and animals dependent on the lake.
Lake Erie Advocates works as if the water emergency of August 2014 is ongoing, to vigorously safeguard the health of our lake.
They conduct public education and actions to expose the environmental threats caused by factory “farms” and other sources.

Our presenter will be Mike Ferner from Lake Erie Advocates. Mike is a long-time environmentalist, including his time on Toledo City Council when he sponsored the largest investment in energy efficiency for municipal buildings in Ohio. He served as a Navy Corpsman during the Viet Nam war and as national President of Veterans For Peace. Mike worked as a union organizer for the American Federation of State, Counties and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and as director of communications for several national non-profit organizations. He is a founding member of Lake Erie Advocates and has lived on that lake’s shore in Toledo for 35 years.
We will be in Community Room B
