An Afternoon with Fish Stark

Come out Sunday afterยญnoon and meet Fish Stark, the Executive Director of the American Humanist Association. He will talk to us about the probยญlem of Christian Nationalism and what we can do to address it in our comยญmuยญniยญty. He will also menยญtion some the plans for the orgaยญniยญzaยญtion and projects they are workยญing on. This will be folยญlowed by some quesยญtions and answers. We will have light refreshยญments.

Fish Stark is an orgaยญnizยญer, eduยญcaยญtor, social entreยญpreยญneur, and lifeยญlong humanยญist. Fish has spent his career turnยญing big ideas into bold action in serยญvice of belongยญing, flourยญishยญing, and social jusยญtice for all peoยญple.
Prior to joinยญing the AHA as Executive Director, Fish was the Head of Program + Curriculum at Legends, an eduยญcaยญtionยญal techยญnolยญoยญgy startยญup, where he led research and impleยญmenยญtaยญtion teams to creยญate prodยญucts that helped chilยญdren build self-confidence, posยญiยญtive menยญtal health, and critยญiยญcal thinkยญing skills.
Previously, Fish served as the Director of Programs at Peace First, a globยญal nonยญprofยญit that proยญvides trainยญing and fundยญing to youth social jusยญtice activists, where he led a globยญal team of orgaยญnizยญers who empowยญered thouยญsands of youth grantees in 140+ counยญtries to make lastยญing change in their comยญmuยญniยญties, and worked with orgaยญniยญzaยญtions such as the Red Cross and Lady Gagaโs Born This Way Foundation to develยญop youth leadยญerยญship proยญgrams.
Fishโs othยญer proยญfesยญsionยญal expeยญriยญences include manยญagยญing proยญgresยญsive politยญiยญcal camยญpaigns, leadยญing a menยญtorยญship proยญgram in the West Virginia coalยญfields with the American Friends Service Committee, buildยญing a nationยญalยญly recยญogยญnized peer-to-peer bulยญlyยญing preยญvenยญtion proยญgram, and teachยญing stuยญdents from pre-school to high school.
A self-proclaimed develยญopยญmenยญtal psyยญcholยญoยญgy nerd who is pasยญsionยญate about givยญing everyยญone the tools to live lives of meanยญing, serยญvice, and self-determination, Fish holds a Masterโs in Education with a conยญcenยญtraยญtion in child develยญopยญment and psyยญcholยญoยญgy from Harvard University, and a Bachelorโs from Yale University with a cerยญtifiยญcate in Education Studies. While at Yale, Fish served as a stuยญdent board memยญber of the Yale Humanist Community and received a Deanโs Prize for his work to build a stronger relaยญtionยญship between Yale and New Haven.
Fish lives in Annapolis, Maryland, where he is President of the Speaker Mike Busch District 30 Democratic Club, is a memยญber of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, and serves on sevยญerยญal nonยญprofยญit boards. He moonยญlights as an award-winning stand-up comeยญdiยญan and has perยญformed in 13 states.
